10 A Daycare Caregiver’s Review of a Non-Contact Digital Forehead Thermometer – The Thermee
Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst
- I run a small daycare and have five children in my care. They range from 6 months-old up to 3 years-old and occasionally I have a 10 year-old that comes after school. I love my job and love looking after these little ones while their parents are at work – it also allows me to stay home with my 2 year-old daughter and the kids are great companions for her as well. Most days are smooth sailing as I have a routine I follow with my little charges; however, there are occasions when one of my kids will not be feeling well. This can be stressful on the kids, parents and me. I have the old standbys as far as children’s pain relievers, but my old-fashioned thermometer had to be replaced – it was glass and took forever to get a reading, plus the hassle of putting it under a sick child’s tongue is stressful, to say the least.
Searching for the Best Thermometer
- I must admit, a thermometer isn’t really one of those items you give much thought to until you need it. As I was searching for a newer model, I was surprised by the number of different methods that were available; under the arm, in the ear, under the tongue. However, these thermometers still used the “touch” method and I didn’t want one that I would have to worry about sterilizing or risk cross-contamination among my daycare kids. Then I found the no-touch Forehead Thermometer and I knew I had stumbled upon a winner.
The Forehead Thermometer
This thermometer uses an infrared technology that quickly scans the forehead, so it never comes in contact with the skin – perfect for sleeping children, plus I don’t have to worry about cleaning it. In addition, it will alarm with seven rapid beeps if there is a fever present and an even tone for a normal reading. The Forehead Thermometer reads in both Celsius and Fahrenheit and keeps track of all the previous temperatures in its memory bank, so I can easily track the progress of a fever.
Not only is the Forehead Thermometer far superior to those other ones on the market, it even comes with a milk reading setting. All I have to do is scan the outside of my 6 month-old’s bottle to see if the milk is too hot or too cold. So simple!
The only downside of this thermometer is it should not be used on infants, but that is not enough of a reason to pass over this amazing piece of technology.
Why Everyone Needs a Forehead Thermometer
- It doesn’t matter if you have one child or no children, this Forehead Thermometer takes the guess work out of fevers. The no touch feature is accurate and fast, with no worry of germs and bacteria transferring from one member of the family to the next. It is also ergonomically designed to fit comfortable in the hand and even easy enough for little ones to take their own temperatures. The Forehead Thermometer would make the perfect baby shower gift and, in fact, I have purchased an extra one to keep on hand for such occasions.
I can’t imagine ever going back to my old glass thermometer. The pain of shaking it down, holding it under a sick child’s tongue, then trying to read the tiny line is all a thing of my past. The Forehead Thermometers digital readout and clear chimes makes it so simple to know where you sit when a child is running a fever.
What are you waiting for? The Forehead Thermometer is by far the best in thermometer technology. The maker’s of this handy device have taken everything into consideration and made it so simple to use. I appreciate everything about the Forehead Thermometer and know you will, too. No home should be without a Forehead Thermometer. It will be your go-to every time someone in your home begins to feel ill. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst with the no touch Digital Forehead Thermometer.
