Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst

I run a small daycare and have five children in my care.  They range from 6 months-old up to 3 years-old and occasionally I have a 10 year-old that comes after school.  I love my job and love looking after these little ones while their parents are at work – it also allows me to stay home with my 2 year-old daughter and the kids are great companions for her as well.  Most days are smooth sailing as I have a routine I follow with my little charges; however, there are occasions when one of my kids will not be feeling well.  This can be stressful on the kids, parents and me.  I have the old standbys as far as children’s pain relievers, but my old-fashioned thermometer had to be replaced – it was glass and took forever to get a reading, plus the hassle of putting it under a sick child’s tongue is stressful, to say the least.

Top Ten Uses for a Non-Contact Digital Forehead Thermometer

When a family member is sick, one of the first steps is to check for fever. However, thermometers vary in accuracy, speed, and convenience. To combine all three, check out the non-contact digital thermometer. It stores a range of temperatures for each person, so illnesses can be tracked over time. And because it never touches a sick person’s skin, there’s little risk of spreading disease.

These are the top uses for a non-contact digital forehead thermometer.

Baby Biting

  1. Catch the early warning signs of illness. Chickenpox can cause a fever before the rash develops. If a child has been exposed to chickenpox, scarlet fever, or roseola, run a quick scan across the forehead with a non-contact digital thermometer. Repeat this every day until the incubation period has passed. If a fever is detected, the illness can be treated immediately.

  1. Prevent illness in the elderly. Symptoms are often mild in elderly people, even for a major illness. A small cough can be a sign of pneumonia. A fever can be anything over 100°F. By keeping a digital record of daily temperatures, caretakers can detect signs of illness before it’s critical. Just store the temperature in a different memory mode for person.

  1. Decide whether to call a doctor. Just track the fever over a day or two and store the results in a non-contact forehead thermometer. If the fever is too high, or lasts too long, you’ll know to contact medical help.

A Review of the Thermee Non-Contact Digital Forehead Thermometer by a Loving Aunt

Smiling Nurse Taking Little Boy's Temperature

Cool Auntie to the Rescue

I love being the cool auntie to my 3 year-old nephew and his 6 year-old sister.  I get to spoil them rotten with fun activities, yummy food and lots of gifts, then when they are all hopped-up, I can drop them back off with their parents, then go home to have a nap…it’s the best of both worlds!  However, there are times when being an auntie isn’t so much fun.  This usually happens when I have to look after the kids when they are sick and my sister can’t get the time off of work. I try my best to make the kids feel better, but inevitable I will have to administer some awful medicine that drops me down on the popularity chart.  Plus, the old-fashioned thermometer my sister has is difficult to use, hard to read and the kids hate it. Till I discovered the Thermee Non-Contact Digital Forehead Thermometer.

Time for a Better Solutionimage-5--v5

I wouldn’t be the cool aunt if I didn’t try to help my niece and nephew out – if that meant finding a better thermometer, I was on the task.  My sister insisted that her old under-the-tongue, glass thermometer was fine, but I found it was very difficult to read, plus, it has to be shaken down and sterilized after each use – this is a huge pain!  So I took to the internet to see what I could find.  Surprisingly, they have come a long way with thermometers; they can go under-the-arm, under-the-tongue and in the ear.  However, […]

Forehead Thermometers vs the Other Ones

04-Components-Overview-v2If you have never heard of the Forehead Thermometer then you are probably still using one of the traditional ones. The old-fashioned thermometers will get the job done, but you may have a harder time getting there. Let’s explore the difference between glass, digital, tympanic and the Forehead Thermometers.

Glass Thermometers vs Forehead Thermometers

00 Flying Unit, like on the box v1

The glass thermometer can either go under the tongue or up the bum. It contains mercury that when heated (by the body temperature) will rise. They do have accuracy, but before you use it, it must be shaken done. This type of thermometer also has to stay put in the child for at least 3 to 5 minutes to get an accurate reading, plus it also has to be sterilized between uses. The Forehead Thermometer never comes in contact with the skin, so it never has to be cleaned!

Digital Thermometer vs Forehead Thermometers

Digital thermometers were a vast improvement on the glass ones. These are designed to either go under the tongue or under the armpit. The readings are quick and accurate, but you still have to sterilize them between uses and the patient has to be cooperative in order for this thermometer to work properly. The Forehead Thermometer scans the forehead and is perfect for any age from babies to the elderly.

Tympanic Thermometer vs Forehead Thermometers

After the invention of the digital thermometer came the tympanic (in the ear) thermometer. These speeded up the process of taking a temperature, as the read only takes seconds. However, this thermometer is […]

Parents Love the Forehead Thermometer!

The days of the gAlways Be Prepared with the Forehead Thermometerlass thermometer are on their way out.  There’s a new and improved thermometer on the market that is getting rave reviews from parents everywhere.  The forehead thermometer is quickly making its way to the top must-haves for new moms and dads and also with parents of older children.  This thermometer knows no age limits and can even be used in nursing homes, daycares, schools and for everyday use.  Check out what this handy, convenient and accurate little device can do for you and your family.

How it Works

The forehead thermometer takes the latest in 21st century technology putting it to use in this state-of-the-art thermometer.  The NON-contact Digital Infrared Forehead Thermometer is used by scanning the person’s forehead from a distance of 1 to 6 centimeters.  The infrared picks up on the energy being emitted from the person.  This is then focused through a specialized lense and converted to a temperature value by the thermopile and measuring circuit.

This may sound really technical, but basically you press a button, scan your child’s forehead and wait for the read.  If you child has a fever, the Forehead Thermometer will quickly alarm with seven rapid beeps and the device will have a red backlit screen.  If everything is normal, there will be an even tone and the screen will remain green.  The Forehead Thermometer also has a memory, so when you are tracking a fever you will have all the previous temperatures at your fingertips for quick reference.

In addition, this thermometer also has a “milk-mode” button.  Once […]

Thermometers have come a long way since the 1700’s.  Today we have digital thermometers that, not only go under the tongue, but can read your temperature through the ear canal.  These are a vast improvement on the accuracy and speed of the old-fashioned glass thermometers.  However, technology has taken another leap forward into the temperature-taking world and has come up with the forehead thermometer.  This handy little […]

The Forehead Thermometer – Designed For Everyone

If yoimage-6u are in charge of small children, the elderly, or someone with a disability, it may be difficult to know when they are feeling ill.  Traditional thermometers do their job; however, they can be difficult to use if the person feeling sick is unable to hold it under their tongue for the required length of time.  There is always a rectal thermometer, but unless the patient is a baby, these are no longer a feasible idea.  So what’s a caregiver to do?  Welcome to the world of thermometer freedom with the forehead thermometer.  It’s revolutionizing the temperature-taking process.

About the Forehead Thermometermeasured-thermee-V1

Unlike traditional thermometers that have to be shaken down and held under the tongue, the forehead thermometer is as simple as a click and a scan.  Here’s how it works.  The forehead thermometer is designed to pick up the infrared energy that is emitted from the forehead.  This energy is then focused through a special lense and converted into a temperature value by a thermopile measuring circuit.  Simple put, you press the button, scan your patient’s forehead at a distance from 1 to 6 centimeters, then read the digital number on the screen.  To make it even easier, the forehead thermometer will sound with seven rapid beeps and light-up with a red backlit glow when a fever is present (normal temperature will have an even sound and be backlit with a green light)  This takes all the guess work out of identifying the presence of a fever.

In addition, the forehead thermometer also has a “milk-mode” button.  This will let you scan […]
